Covid-19 Update 1st April 2022
As part of the Government’s living with Covid plan, the DfE has removed most of the school’s guidance documents. However, it is still important to remember that Covid-19 hasn’t gone away and we do still have some children, parents and staff who are vulnerable.
The symptoms of Covid-19 include, but are not limited to (further details can be found on the NHS website):
– a high temperature or shivering (chills) – a high temperature means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
– a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours
– a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
From 1st April 2022, anyone with a positive COVID-19 test result is advised to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days (3 days for children), which is when they are most infectious. If anyone has symptoms, but is not able to take a test, we advise that they also remain at home during this infectious period.
We understand that not everyone will be able to provide a negative test before returning to school, as they are no longer provided free by the government. However, if you do have access to testing and your child is still testing positive, please do NOT send them back in to school. Pupils should also remain off school if they are feeling unwell or continue to have a high temperature.
Any absences linked to Covid will continue to be marked as authorised absences, like any illness.
It is still important to remind everyone to:
-Wash hands regularly
-Have fresh air circulating
-Catch all coughs and sneezes in a tissue and dispose of them appropriately
We appreciate your ongoing support.
Regards,
Mrs Jo Richardson
